February 20, 2010
dear granny,
today is saturday :]
I had a sleepover last night, but what makes it crazy is that it was in my room for once! Tiffany and Alicia came over to my room for the night and then this morning we had to get up early-ish because Zach from dymo (so alicia knows him, too) was visiting for the scholarship competition (like the one I went to last year).
Then, after lunch with Zach and waving goodbye as he went off to be all scholarly and such, we proceeded to be boring for a while. I wrote my story, Jake played video games, Alicia read, Tiffany drew, Biz played video games, too. I had a grand old time writing my story, which I might tell you about when I get home (even if you’ll think I’m crazy… hahahah it’s okay. I’m in a massive creative mood lately and it’s turned into something pretty cool and original).
Then Alicia, Evan, and I went to church in Holland, except we didn’t stay for the whole mass. We went because we write letters back and forth with some kids in the RCIA program that Alicia’s mom (my fairy godmother) and sister help with. We were sort of there as stand-in sponsors, but we didn’t have to do much.
Then, on the way back, Alicia took us to a Chinese buffet place and we had GOOD food, not wege food! :] They had really good white rice, chicken and broccoli, and roast duck. Their egg-drop soup was so-so, same with the pork fried rice. I tried frog leg and sushi, though, so now I can tell people how awesome I am. hahaha it wasn’t too bad, but I’m not a huge fan of either. I mostly tried them because Evan found them first and I figured, “if it’s free, why not?”
When we got our fortune cookies, though, Evan read his fortune and then ATE IT! ahahahha he said that’s how you make sure it comes true. I did -not- try THAT delicacy. ;]
Now we’re hanging out in Tiff’s room, which she just cleaned, and we’re gonna go back to my room for ANOTHER sleepover :] I think we’re gonna watch the first movie of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but I don’t know for sure.
I’m coming home next weekend! be ready! :]
love,
marah
ps: At first I just gave up ice cream for lent. Then, at lunch on Friday, Sarah guilted me into making the decision to give up ALL dessert for lent. I mean, she’s doing it, too, so we have some sort of support system. It’s not too bad. It pretty much stops me from eating between meals and makes me a lot more conscious of hungry people and how awesome my life still is, even without stuffing my face with candy and ice cream and stuff like that. Ohhh lent… good times, good times. ;P

November 1, 2009
dear granny,
today is sunday.
and I haven’t updated in about two weeks.
that’s kind of sad, isn’t it.
Today I did all kinds of things.
I left for breakfast and there was Christmas music blaring from a window into the general area surrounding my dorm. I sort of snickered in disbelief. Then, several guys started to belt the chorus of Sleigh Ride along with the music and they proceeded to skip/run past me :] it was very entertaining and distracted me from how silly it is to play Christmas music this early.
Then I ate breakfast/lunch, which was pretty good.
Then I went to the Jack the Ripper ballet, which was okay, but I didn’t understand much more than the historical background they gave in the program. which, incidentally, was not much.
I did a little bit of homework, but I’ve still got a ton to go.
I went to church and it reminded me just how much I love the chapel here :]
In boy news, my friends are having a crappy time of it, but I’m getting butterflies from someone who isn’t even here because he talks to me on facebook chat. lame, right?
oh well, it is what it is and I’ll deal with it as I go.
Now to do humanities and communications homework. Which isn’t going to be very fun.
love,
<3 marah
